Located in the heart of the Toubkal – High Atlas National Park, Lake Ifni is nestled at the bottom of a valley surrounded by the peaks of Jbel Toubkal, Ouanoukrim and the dome of Ifni. A huge landslide enclosed the valley and hence gave birth to the lake. This water retention is precious for the villages of the valley which use it to irrigate the fields.<\/p>\n

Today, the lake is mostly frequented by tourists who come to bathe, cool off and admire the Toubkal Massif reflected on the surface of the water. The shores of the lake are mostly very steep but there is a flat area on the west side to accommodate you.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

How to get there:<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

From Agadir, head in the direction of Taroudant<\/a> – Aoulouz (30.676772, -8.172276),<\/span>\u00a0 by simply taking the N10 and travel towards the Tifnoute Valley : 30.700506, -8.153250 until<\/span><\/span> Amsouzart – entry point to Toubkal National Park.<\/span> In Amsouzart, you can park your car with no hassle, eat and we advise you to spend the night there to be able to enjoy your day at Lake Ifni. On the road, you can see the impressive dams of Aoulouz:<\/span> dam 1: 30.692895, -8.137822 and<\/span> dam 2: 30.734532, -7.980902<\/span><\/p>\n

All along the Tifnoute Valley<\/a> , it is a succession of small villages perched along the mountainside. <\/span>Our advice: you can stop at the village of Igli-Iguidi:<\/span> 30.859887, -7.900693 to enjoy the show.<\/span><\/p>\n

For hiking, it’s easy to find the path to Lake Ifni: just head on up the valley. The hike is accessible and you even have the possibility of being helped by mules for the portage. After your breakfast, start your hike towards Lake Ifni (2h30 walk) in a superb green valley dotted with small villages. The ascent to the pass located at 2300 meters is rewarded with a panoramic view of Jbel Toubkal<\/a> (highest peak in North Africa: 4136 meters).<\/span> Then you descend to Lake Ifni, picnic \/ visit \/ swim then return to the village of Amsouzart before hitting the road back to Agadir.<\/span><\/p>\n
