These are real safes for the villages of the region. Collective granaries, seen from the outside, can look like a kasbah. We generally speak of kasbah for a building of square plan with four towers at the angles, built of mud and usually intended to house a family of notables. These villages can contain dozens or even hundreds of dwellings inside, with mosques, streets, communal facilities and central place for events. All the ksour have one or more entrances (large decorated doors).<\/p>\n<p>The ksour may be thousands of years old, but some were built in the 19th century by ancient nomadic tribes. One or more kasbahs can be found within the same ksar.
