The site was originally a group of forts that were surrounded in the 19th century by seven kilometers of walls (8 meters high). This city quickly became a commercial center of Souss Massa and remains today a beautiful stopover between the Anti-Atlas and the Atlantic coast where you will quickly be charmed by the atmosphere of its medina.

- Coming to Tiznit from Agadir by car
From Agadir, take the N1 south, by which you will reach Tiznit in less than 2 hours (95 km). You enter the city walls through the Bab Oulad Jerrar gate (29.692703, -9.725123). Turn left by taking rue de l’Hôpital (29.695564, -9.727816) to reach Place du Mechouar, the real heart of the city.
- Coming to Tiznit from Tafraoute by car
Take the R104, its beautiful valleys and the Kerdous Pass.
You will be spoiled for choice from Tiznit for a stroll along the coast which is located about fifteen kilometers away. Aglou is one of the closest beaches. You can also head north on the N1 to discover the Souss Massa National Park (Saharan wildlife reserve and observation of migratory birds) located by the sea. South of Tiznit, the small town of Mirleft is reaching out to you with its beaches and coves full of charm. The day Mirleft comes alive is Monday, souk day.
