Destination: The backcountry
Location: Souss Massa region
To visit the backcountry, your travels will most of the time be by car (Souss Massa has a very large territory). Renting a car is very easy. This means of transport can be very economical, if you are traveling with a group of people.
Do not hesitate to seek advice on the choice of the agency (ask your hotel). Some agencies even allow you to take a car in Agadir and return it to another city.
Taking and returning the car directly at the airport is very practical so as not to waste time!
For information, the price of diesel and gasoline oscillates between 0.85 to 1 € per liter.
Be vigilant and respect the speed limits. Respect the Highway Code.
The roads have been, for the most part, recently constructed and there will be no need for a 4×4 to travel in the Souss Massa (except for the Iriqui National Park and other off-road paths). In cities, you will always find space to park. When picking up your vehicle, you will have to pay an amount of 2 to 10 dirhams to the person in charge of security.
Some people can choose a means of transport with a driver ( tourist transport & travel agencies ) to discover the Souss Massa region. It remains a comfortable solution to move around when discovering the region.
Apart from the rental car (with or without driver), you will find several other means of transport to get around easily (Agadir and Backcountry).
Regarding large taxis (white), whatever the planned route, it will first be necessary to agree on the price. For example, for a trip from Al Massira airport in Agadir to the city center, the trip will cost you on average 20 €.
For Taroudant, a “grand taxi” will cost € 3.5 per person.
Air-conditioned coaches connect the big cities (bus stations) between them.
Several bus companies (Supratours and CTM) start from the Al Massira bus station (30.416503, -9.566342).
A one-way coach trip from Agadir to Taroudant will cost you 3 € on average with the CTM. On the other hand, departures are frequent only to Marrakech. It is better to fall back on the solution of the large taxi.
