2 beautiful oases at the gates of Iriqui National Park
Trip from Agadir: 6 hours / 390 km
The oases of Foum Zguid (30.078803, -6.870115) and Allogoum (30.275338, -6.829805) are located at the foot of the Jbel Bani mountain range which crosses the entire province of Tata. You are in the eastern part of Souss Massa and in the heart of oasis life. You are in a different Morocco from what you are used to seeing. Attention photographers, the landscapes are sublime.
Travelers who cross this pre-Saharan area in a 4×4 often stop there before leaving for Iriqui National Park . The Allogoum Oasis is located north of the Foum Zguid Oasis. Simply take the road that heads due north.
In this town 25 kilometers from Foum Zguid, there is a ksar (fortified village) currently undergoing restoration. The work is focused on access to the adobe construction, on the mosque and on a few houses as well. Alleys and covered passages are restored and fitted out there.
The rehabilitation of the Ksar d’Allougoum is one of the pilot sites chosen to encourage locals to take ownership of the enhantment of this exceptional heritage site.
In Foum Zguid, you will find 2 cooperatives (Carpets and Basketry). A large souk also takes place on Thursday a day during which this small town becomes very lively (morning and late afternoon). This region is also a point of passage for those who are fond of geology, astronomy (region famous for its meteorite showers) and archeology ( rock engravings ).
How to get there:
From Agadir, head in the direction of Akka Ighane (29.838782, -7.499735) then at the junction with the N12 road, turn left towards Tissint – Foum Zguid.
