The best way to visit Taroudant
Journey from Agadir: 1 hour 25 mins / 85 km
Enjoy the magic of a riad in the old town of Taroudant. It is the most practical solution for easily walking around the city. The riads can accommodate a large family or a group and offer a certain freshness in the summer period.
Taroudant also offers, of course, very beautiful hotels at affordable prices. For breakfast , your hosts will treat you but do not hesitate, during your morning walk, to sit in the restaurants or cafes serving breakfast and you will be able to taste the different dishes including Bissara, split pea soup or beans that look like mash and eaten with olive oil and bread. Accompanied by an egg flavored with cumin, this breakfast will give you energy for the day. For lunch, the restaurants located on Place Assarag, for example, can offer you various delicious tagines.
Hamman is very popular in Morocco. It will take 10 to 30 dirhams to enter a local hammam. Don’t forget to bring everything you need for a good bath (black soap, glove, towels, rasoul, argan oil, etc.). You can ask at the entrance to the entrance of the Hammam for someone to take care of you. If that’s too logistical, some accommodations or lounges may offer you individual hammams where they will take care of everything.
- Walk
- By carriage (Budget 100 dirhams for 1 hour around the ramparts / at sunset, of course!)
- Car rental: If necessary, there are several rental companies in Taroudant. A rental car allows you to go to the Oasis of Tioute / Afensou Valley / Toubkal National Park. The most economical way remains the large collective taxi.
- Rental of bicycles and mopeds (possible).
How to get there:
From Agadir, several routes are possible: the N10, the P1708, the P1714 and the P1723 variant via Argana. It will take an hour and a half from Agadir.. The trip can also be done by collective taxi, they are comfortable and inexpensive (37 dirhams / € 3.50 per person). You can hail them at the station called “Abattoir” in Agadir.
For a private taxi, it is more expensive: 250 dirhams / 23 € the trip. The journey takes about one hour and fifteen minutes. From Marrakech, Route du Tizi n’Test is a must if you have time.
