Visit a Traditional Apiary
Take the Honey Route, as it is the ideal trip for a short stay in Agadir. You will discover the richness of the Arganeraie Biosphere Reserve and the famous Paradise Valley in the middle of the mountains. The route takes you from one mountain village to another to discover a real Tradition around Honey and Ancestral Apiaries. The very hilly landscape is one of the most beautiful in the region.
Day 01

From Agadir, follow the N1 towards Essaouira (north). You can enjoy the beach at Tamraght (30.506328, -9.686255), where there are several possibilities for swimming / surfing, walks on the beach and in the village (market on Wednesdays). Then take the P1001 (30.497173, -9.672668) towards Paradise Valley via the village of Alma (30.512786, -9.590785). The landscape becomes greener until Tamzergourte known for its panoramic view (30.551280, -9.563261) on its beautiful oasis. There is a wide variety of plants here (euphorbias, lavender, acacias, thuja, mastic trees, doum …). A mandatory stop for a walk in the Vallée du Paradis (parking lot 30.588767, -9.531829) before continuing to Immouzzer 30.672442, -9.480850 (Market on Thursday). Continue towards Tikki (30.744685, -9.328637). After Tikki, turn left (30.745939, -9.319517) towards Inzerki where the largest and oldest traditional collective apiary in the world is located. The road is a succession of typical Berber villages. You can visit the apiary (30.801344, -9.176583) with the village association and taste different honeys from the apiary. You will also observe the beehives with a beekeeper. Introduction/initiation to beekeeping is possible. Then, continue towards the village of Tazarine by finding the N8 (30.791706, -9.143126) then the P1001 on your right (30.711665, -9.216699), and head in the direction of Tazarine where you can stop in the Arganeraie (30.732071, -9.229117 ). From this village, you can admire the valley around the AbdelMoumen dam. There is also the possibility to visit a traditional house / museum at this location.

Day 02

Itinerary: Tazarine – Wintimdouine – Pays de Messguina or Agadir (100kms) You will leave Tazarine for the village of Alemzi (30.727841, -9.241959). Then, you continue on to Gnougui (village whose main activity is beekeeping 30.739598, -9.274839) to join Tazarine and recover the N8 where you will turn right (30.711595, -9.216712). Then, turn right (30.602398, -9.345093) for a possible lunch break in Tizgui N’Chorfa (30.670752, -9.349544). After lunch, head in the direction of the Wintimdouine cave (30.680246, -9.344610) and its panoramic view. You are now in the High Atlas Arganeraie Biosphere Reserve, a protected area. Throughout your journey, you have the opportunity to visit women’s cooperatives to follow the manufacturing process and taste the precious argan or olive oils. Workshops to share ancestral know-how with you await. Cooking classes, pottery workshops are also available. Admire this rocky landscape filled with argan trees. You can spend the night there before returning to Agadir.
