A palm grove south of Taroudant
Trip from Agadir: 2 hours
Located 30 kilometers southeast of Taroudant, the Tioute palm grove (30.385655, -8.695139) is a great activity/discovery to do with children. A visit to the palm grove can be done by donkey or mule (30 dhs per hour) guided by the inhabitants of the palm grove. With its countless palm trees and crops, the Tioute palm grove looks like an oasis.
An upstream spring and the oued have favored the appearance of this dynamic agricultural zone, even while the region is more than arid. The inhabitants of the hamlets of the palm grove mainly cultivate cereals (wheat, barley and corn).
You can also admire the overhanging Kasbah of Tioute dating from the Saadian dynasty (XVIth century). The restaurant located there offers an impressive panoramic view of the half dozen villages making up the palm grove. In the palm grove, the irrigation canal widens and considerably cools the atmosphere. It is possible to organize a very pleasant lunch or to enjoy a picnic there.
How to get there:
From Agadir, follow the N10 road towards Taroudant. You will then have to head in the direction of Ouarzazate and at the 7 km mark, in the village of Ait Aissa, turn right, towards Igherm-Tata (R109). Then the Tioute palm grove (30.393457, -8.689714) will be indicated on your right.
