It depends on your destination. There are many superb day hikes in the lower part of the High Atlas (Afensou, Imoulass, Ifni Lake).
Walking in the Anti-Atlas and Jbel Bani is rarely difficult, but the trails are often very rugged and stony. This is a sparsely populated area, so the trails are rarely used.
The country of the IDA OUTANANE (Imouzzer, Valley of paradise), accessible from Agadir in less than an hour, it is also a vast playground for easily organized hikes.
The High Atlas and the Anti-Atlas are close to Agadir. This means you can travel one day and start your hike the next.
Keep in mind that a guide you meet in the area you wish to explore will always have a better knowledge of the terrain. So put the local structures to work. For a multi-day trek, your guide must be licensed . It must have the status of “guide – natural space”.
Some have a specialty: canyoning , climbing or mountaineering. Guide associations are present in towns like Tafraoute for hikes in the Anti Atlas . For the southern slope of the High Atlas ( Lake Ifni , Jbel Aoulime , Adrar N’dern ), guides can be contacted on site (Village of Amsouzart, Afensou and Imoulass). The official rate for official guides is 350 Dh / day / per group. This price may vary according to the seasons and sectors and is apart from the cost of food, accommodation, and the team (porters, muleteers, cook, etc.) .
The guides are generally accommodated free of charge in the lodges, so their meals must be taken care of. If your route is not a loop, you will need to pay the guide’s return transport costs as well. Negotiate all rates before you set off, including details such as the starting and ending point for each day’s hike, food, water, mules (if needed), and equipment.
Hire a cook, if there are many of you (cost: 100 Dh / day). A tip of at least 10%, at the end of the trek, will be appreciated.
