What season to go?
Location: Souss Massa region
The Anti-Atlas is excellent for tours at the end of the year, with a much milder climate than the High Atlas and less snow. Blue sky assured but the nights can be very cold (negative temperature possible).
The period from October to April is recommended, and summer should be avoided, which can be very hot.
Around Tafraoute, the ideal season is February during the flowering of the almond trees.
For the High Atlas , the best period for a tour is from March to October. In spring and autumn, the sun is strong but the air temperature remains pleasant.
April can be humid. Summer is hot and even the foothills and valleys of the High Atlas can reach temperatures above 30 ° C.
Winter climbs of Jbel Toubkal are possible, but at night, the temperature is negative, with snow from the end of October.
At the foot of Jbel Bani , the oases surrounding the city of Tata are located in a desert environment and the climate is of the continental Saharan type.
Precipitation is low and temperatures are very variable: they can sometimes exceed 45 ° C in summer, with the “chergui” or “sirocco”, a very hot trade wind coming from the desert, but will also drop below 10 ° C in summer/winter.
It is best to avoid the hottest summer months. But oasis life has learned to adapt ingeniously thanks to its bio-climatic dwellings.
The best time for a vacation on the Souss Massa Coast is from July to mid-October. In June, the sea is still cool.
In July and August, very hot days can be difficult to bear.
The period from September to October is a treat.
However, throughout the summer period, morning mists, and a little chill in the evening and morning, may surprise you. For foggy mornings and cool evenings, plan to wear suitable clothing even in summer.
