Trip from Agadir – Al Massira airport: 30 mins / 25 km
If you are looking for a beach trip, Agadir and its surroundings are absolutely the place. The city is oriented towards its beautiful seafront promenade , which is a most relaxing space. Located south of the marina, Agadir beach offers beautiful white sand and good water quality.
Despite its impressive seaside resort and its port activity , Agadir remains a city completely rebuilt after the devastating earthquake of 1960. The city center has been redesigned with perpendicular streets presenting notable contemporary architectural elements (brutalist movement). Further out, the city is surrounded by spacious residential suburbs. There is also a beautiful Medina reconstructed using traditional construction techniques and a huge Souk in the City Center .
The Marina – Seafront promenade : At sunset and until the evening, the best activity in Agadir is the seafront promenade (south of the marina). Enjoy the fresh air by spending the evening there (restaurants & cafes / ice cream parlors). With 300 days of sunshine per year, Agadir’s strong point is its crescent moon beach, which remains protected from the sea breeze. It is clean and well maintained, lit at night and supervised by lifeguards and police officers during the summer period (mid-June to mid-September). Be careful however, as the waves can be strong there during certain periods. There are beaches (near the marina or in front of the big hotels) with showers – toilets and play areas for children. Sunbeds and umbrellas can be hired here as well as windsurfing equipment, jet skis, bodyboards and surfboards. If you can’t find what you want there, the shops on the promenade just south of the marina sell beach gear as well.
A visit of Agadir by bike is possible and it is a simple way to discover the various parks and gardens of the city as well as the Amazigh Heritage Museum . Several large hotels and establishments have spas offering hammam, massage and a range of various treatments. The visit of the Medina of Agadir and Souk El Had are essential for your shopping. Less than an hour from Agadir, the hinterland and the Arganeraie Biosphere Reserve are open to you.
There are many catering options. Fish tagines, sweet and savory tagines, kebabs, salads, pastries, you will be in for a treat!
The city and its surroundings have no shortage of hotels, spas, restaurants and there are plenty of activities for your children to enjoy.
You can sleep easily in town (if you want to enjoy the evenings of Agadir or if your flight leaves early the next day). You can choose accommodation in the Arganeraie Biosphere Reserve (30 minutes from Agadir) or alternatively in a seafront hostel (towards Taghazout / Aourir Tamraght) .
